ADHD Study at Montreal Children's

Montreal - Tuesday, January 30, 2018

Medication is currently the mainstay treatment for adolescents with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Although medication is an effective treatment for core ADHD symptoms, it does not directly address the associated academic, social, emotional and behavioural impairments. Overcoming these would require skills in organization, time management, problem solving, emotional modulation, stress management and interpersonal rapport. However, little is known about the efficacy of psychosocial treatments targeting such skills for adolescents with ADHD, and there are few psycho social treatment options available to these adolescents in the community.

The Montreal Children’s Hospital ADHD Research Program is a currently conducting a study which is designed to assess the efficacy of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) for adolescents with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). This study will be open to both medicated and unmedicated adolescents.
