General Back-to-School Information from the EMSB

First day of class and school supplies

The first day of class for most elementary and secondary students is Tuesday, August 31, 2021. Please note that in many elementary schools Pre-K and/or Kindergarten students follow a progressive entry schedule. Contact your child's school for more information.

Supply lists and entry instructions for your child's grade should be posted on your school's website. If you do not see the information posted please contact your child's school directly.


Registration for those not previously enrolled will begin on Wednesday,  August 11  for elementary and secondary schools. Parents are asked to call the school in their neighbourhood to make an appointment. Parents are urged to consult the Board’s  website at, which also contains information about the successful adult education and vocational training programs. E-mail inquiries can be sent to  or you can call 514- 483-7200.

Late registration

Late registration is now open for students not previously enrolled in school. Children must be 5 years of age by September 30 to enroll in Kindergarten.
